Teachers Participate in Professional Development Day

Last Friday, teachers took part in professional development for Superintendent’s Conference Day. The event included workshops on various educational topics, including the integration of artificial intelligence in teaching, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) strategies and the RULER approach to reinforce social-emotional learning (SEL) and enhance student success.

Workshops included:

  • Strategies for Supporting ELLs in the 7-12 Classroom with Donna Drake, ENL Teacher
  • The Resilient Educator: DBT Strategies for Stress Reduction & Emotional Balance with Monique Johnson, LCSW
  • Framework for Supporting Social-Emotional Learning & Student Success with Adam Weinstock, Assistant Director, SWBOCES Center for Professional Learning & Curriculum Support
  • MTSS: Identifying and Aligning Goals and Intervention for Each Tier with Marianna Dougherty, Director of Special Education
  • Universal Design for Learning Intro - Designing for Access and Agency with Susan Shapiro, Senior Professional Learning Specialist, CAST
  • Community Building Circles: Essentials for Creating a Community of Care with Maisha Campbell, Southern Westchester BOCES
  • Counted Out Film and Discussion with Natasha Grey &  Nanesha Nuñez
  • Belonging Circle with Sarah Suatoni, Cofounder, Executive Coach, Leadership Development Consultant, and Psychotherapist at Awareness in Motion and Faculty at Teachers College.   • Unlocking AI in Education with Sabrina Rich, Alex Carballo, Lisa Tallevi, and Brandon Milonovich

The day's activities aimed to equip educators with new tools and techniques that can be applied in the classroom. Thank you to all the facilitators who contributed to a full day of essential learning opportunities.
