Ardsley Appoints Stewart Hanson as Interim Athletic Director
Ardsley Schools has appointed Mr. Stewart Hanson as Interim Director of Athletics, Physical Education and Health, bringing in a seasoned professional with more than 40 years of experience in school athletics administration. Hanson will serve in the role from March 17, 2025, through June 30, 2025.
Hanson, known for his commitment to student-athletes and fostering a positive, inclusive athletic environment, previously served as Athletic Director for Harrison. Since his retirement, he has successfully held interim roles in multiple districts, including Pearl River, Irvington, Blind Brook, and most recently, Eastchester. His extensive experience and leadership are expected to provide stability during this transitional period.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Hanson to Ardsley,” said Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Matt Block. “We are confident that Mr. Hanson's experience and leadership will provide stability and continuity for our student-athletes, coaches and athletic programs during this interim period."
In addition to his extensive background in athletic administration, Hanson holds a Master of Science in Administration and Supervision, a Master of Science in Special Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, all from Manhattan College.
Ardsley Schools is committed to identifying a highly qualified and impactful professional for the permanent position. The district will hold listening sessions for students and coaches during the school day to gather community input. A focus group session for parents is scheduled for March 20, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Ardsley High School Cafeteria.
