Science Research Program Hosts Somers Practice Night and Ice Cream Social

On Monday, June 1, the Ardsley Science Research Program hosted its first annual Somers Practice Night and Ice Cream Social, giving tenth-grade science researchers the opportunity to present their research posters in preparation for the Somers Science Fair, which will be held on Saturday, June 6.

For tenth graders, the Somers Science Fair marks their first formal science fair experience, where they will present their proposed summer research projects. The practice event provided students with a supportive environment to rehearse their presentations, answer questions, and receive feedback before the competition.

Eleventh and twelfth-grade students in the program, and even alumni also participated by serving as judges, offering thoughtful feedback and encouragement to the younger researchers. Their involvement helped create a collaborative atmosphere that reflected the strength and continuity of the Science Research Program.

Adding to the celebration, students enjoyed a wide variety of ice cream flavors and toppings, all generously provided and served by parents of the science researchers. The event highlighted not only the hard work of the students, but also the strong support of the Ardsley science research community.

A special thank you to the parent committee and volunteers for providing the ice cream and for all of their efforts in making this event a success.

The Somers Science Fair will take place on Saturday, June 6, with a public viewing session from 4:30–5:30 p.m. Families, students, and community members are invited to attend and see the students’ research presentations.
