Congratulations to Our Ardsley Scholars!

Congratulations to Our Ardsley Scholars!

Ardsley High School is proud to announce that two of its students have been named Scholars (Top 300) in the highly competitive Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS), the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and mathematics competition for high school seniors.

The honored students are:

  • Karthikeyan, Khushi (18)
Project Title: “The Supermassive Problem: Probing Potential Stellar Formation Pathways of Intermediate-Mass Black Holes”

  • Tomioka, Serina (17)
Project Title: Characterizing the Spatial Dynamics of CD44 and Amyloid-Beta Plaques in Human Alzheimer's Disease Brain

Each year, nearly 2,000 students nationwide submit original research to the Regeneron Science Talent Search. Being named a Scholar places Khushi and Serina among the top 15% of young scientists in the United States, recognizing not only their scientific excellence, but also their creativity, perseverance, and potential as future leaders in STEM.

“To be recognized at this level is an extraordinary accomplishment. We are incredibly proud...not just of their results, but of the scientists and humans they’ve become,” said James Dowd, Science Research Director.

Students in Ardsley’s Science Research Program engage in multi-year independent research projects, working alongside professional mentors, conducting original investigations, and presenting their work at regional and national competitions. The recognition of two Scholars in the same year highlights the strength and depth of Ardsley’s commitment to inquiry-based learning and scientific scholarship.

As Scholars, Khushi and Serina will receive national recognition and monetary awards, and they now join an elite alumni network of Regeneron STS participants that includes Nobel laureates, entrepreneurs, and leaders in science, medicine, and technology.

Ardsley High School congratulates Khushi Karthikeyan and Serina Tomioka on this remarkable achievement and celebrates their contributions to science, their school, and the future.
